Welcome to the seventy-ninth issue of my weekly news article, Love dA Lit! Every Sunday this article will aim to promote volunteer opportunities, various resources, prompts, challenges, and workshops, as well as highlighting various contests, and spotlighting a specific group every week. This is by no means a complete list of all the literature going-ons, merely a tool to help you get involved and stay informed.

WeeklyLitContests is barely a month old but has taken off by kickstarting their opening contest, Beginning. The group's premise is to host a contest every week to help "reward and showcase quality literature."Click here to learn more about this group!
Liedy, the founder of WeeklyLitContests, happily let me pester them with a few questions about the group. ♥
How is WeeklyLitContests different from the other literature groups on dA?
Well, first off WeeklyLitContests is a a group solely concerned with literature contests. That is, all our folders are contest specific, and we do not accept deviations outside our "contest paradigm". However, our contests are also different from most contests I've seen throughout this site, in a number of ways:
1. We allow, and in fact encourage people to submit previously made deviations, not intended for our contests specifically.
2. In order to achieve this, the themes are pretty wide compared to most contests, and are up for interpretation.
3.The contests, as the name implies are weekly! And there are always prizes including features, DD suggestions and at least a 150+ points (it depends how much we are able to collect). Unless it is specified we also accept most genres, in trying to involve more people.
What prompted you to create WeeklyLitContests?
Quite simply, to showcase and reward quality literature. Many people put a lot of effort in to their work, and usually it pays off with great deviations. Some get the attention they deserve, some don't. Contests are a great way to discover and reward such excellence, but they are often narrow and far between . Older deviations are tend to be left unnoticed, and newer ones can quickly drown in the vast amount of literature on the site. I wanted to make a group as open as possible in order to bring forth the gems of our community, old and new, while making their creators visible and rewarded. There are some great initiatives out there already such as DailyLitDeviations and lacoterie We would like to be another one.
Do you have any short-term goals for the group? Long-term?
Short term: As our wonderful team of judges and admins are now in place, we are currently looking to expand our member count. Our group benefits greatly from our members since a greater amount of contest contributions may entail higher quality winning deviations. Our weekly featured winners would get more attention as well. We also, of course, hope that deviants may find WeeklyLitContests an enjoyable place to visit, where friendly and constructive comments/critiques are to be found.
Long term: We hope to successfully generate attention around our winning deviants, perhaps even sniffing out some potential DD's. We also work against becoming a common name within the literature community, characterized with quality literature and a friendly tone, while in general be seen as a helpful asset to writers out there.
Anything else of note that you would like to share?
Right now we are hosting our opening contest with 500 points in the pot, the theme is fittingly Beginning(s), and it would be wonderful if people would join in.

Checking In
It's been quite a while since my last journal entry, about five years. I hope whoever is reading this knows I've never forgotten anyone and I think of all the friends I made here with such love and joy. I'm not sure how many people still linger on DA, but I hope that if you somehow stumble back to my page you know that I love you and wish you well. There is simply too much to go over for the span of five years, so I'll keep it short and sweet. I love you and I missed you. I don't write quite as much as I used to, but I've started dabbling more often again and was thinking of posting once more. I'm terribly out of practice, but it's something that's always been cathartic so it doesn't matter too much to me how "good" it is. Sometimes you just have to get the feelings out. Anyways, I hope you are having a wonderfully lovely day, my lovelies. How about some questions! What's your current favorite song? A video game you can't stop playing? TV show or movie you wish everyone else would
Renewal
It has been a rough few years for myself and my family. It is strange to think that for once in my adult life that I am legitimately doing well, not pretending or being close but not quite there. Things are almost infinitely better than 6 months ago and, if I'm honest, it feels like that was years ago. DA has always been a home and as I've slowly gotten better I find myself missing it and all the friends I've made more and more. I know I do not elaborate much on my personal life, but perhaps now that so much is behind me I can allow myself to discuss it more. In truth, I'm not even sure where to begin, but updating on what happened in the la
Birthdays and Change
I wanted to thank all the lovelies who wished me happy birthday recently, I read all your comments and it made me extremely happy. ♥ It was nice to hop on and see that I was thought of, I truly appreciate it beyond words.
However, I know have been very absent for a few months now. Things have not be going well in my life for the majority of the year (and if I'm honest the last 2 years) now and I have had to put DA on the back burner. I still find myself coming to the site, reading comments/replies, looking at deviations, but currently I am overwhelmed by everything that I can't bring myself to do much else.
I find myself now on the pr
