Welcome to the forty-seventh issue of my weekly news article, Love dA Lit! :eager: Every Sunday this news article will aim to promote volunteer opportunities, various resources, prompts, challenges, and workshops, as well as highlighting various contests, interviewing various members of the literature community and spotlighting a specific group every week. This is by no means a complete list of all the literature going-ons, merely a tool to help you get involved and stay informed.

This Week's Group Spotlight

[Spotlight] :iconlooselacespoetry: [Spotlight]

LooseLacesPoetry is one of the larger literature groups on dA, but despite their name they don't only focus on poetry, they accept all types of literature and varying skill levels. Learn more about this group by clicking here!

Lots of thank you's to  sasukeongofreak for graciously giving their time to answer some of my questions!

[Star!]How is LooseLacesPoetry different from the other literature groups on dA?
When I first decided to found LooseLacesPoetry, I wanted it to not have as many restrictions as I was seeing in some of the first groups I fished around. Most of them we're one subject related, with strict posting rules, and so overwhelming, that just looking at it made me afraid of posting anything, that I might break some rule I missed. LooseLacesPoetry is different because you can say anything you want, there are a few little rules, necessary to prevent graphic pornographic things, but otherwise, it's radical freedom of speech and expression. "Troll Poetry" is even allowed, because well, it's their voice, and if our members don't like it, then that's the beauty of the group, you don't have to read that poetry, there's thousands of other options to read.

[Star!]Does LooseLacesPoetry have any upcoming events or contests? If so, could you please explain a bit about them.
Right now we don't have any upcoming contests, I'm sure my admin I've put in charge RaineDrops18 will be brainstorming soon to bring up another great contest.

[Star!]LooseLacesPoetry is one of the larger literature groups out there,  do you have any advice on keeping members interested and not overwhelming them with submissions?
Yes, I do! At the get go, I neglected to put a submission limit, so pretty soon I was flooded with thousands of poems, so limit it as much as you can, maybe two or just one deviation per day, per deviant. You can also make frequent contests and events, and not contests with strict rules (ew), things that are loose, abstract, it's poetry for goodness sake, it shouldn't have strings attached, haha, beginning to understand our group title? Any rate, contests with loose themes like dreams, or nightmares, and maybe have them explain how it matches that, or have them include that word in the poem. At one time we had an icon design contest, to get a new icon and commemorate our 1st birthday. Contests don't have to be restricted to just what your group does, if you have ideas, don't be afraid to share.

Lastly, GET SOME GREAT ADMINS. I had no idea this group would become so big, and pretty soon I was fishing through things I couldn't handle myself, if you have a good team mate to back you up, they can help keep the members satisfied who have so many questions and need assistance. Big groups mean more workers.

If you're looking for some more groups head over to leoraigarath's Literature Groups List or Realm-of-Fantasy's for their list of literature groups[Fantasy, Sci-fi and General], or you could always head over to my journal to see the small list I've compiled. Or if you're still not finding a group you like check out the list of all literature groups on dA: Click here!
