Write2liveCancerFree is barely over a month old, but it has an admirable goal: publish a book with selected deviants work at the end of each year that will be sold in order to raise money to donate to a Cancer Research Center. Click here to learn a little more about this group's admins.
Black-Rose-117 the founder of Write2liveCancerFree was patient enough to let me send her the questions and wonderufl enough to tell me about the group.
Can you explain a bit about your group, Write2liveCancerFree and what makes it different from other literature groups on dA?
The group Write2LiveCancerFree is a group that allows writers of all sorts to come together and work to create a book that will come to benefit one of the biggest issues this world is fighting; Cancer. At the end of a year, we take all the winning pieces from the month-by-month contests and put it in a book that we will sell to raise money for Cancer Research. What makes it different from most literature groups on dA is that fact that this is a cause that many people can relate to; if they haven’t fought through it themselves, then they might have known someone who had to fight the battle. We hope it spread it out beyond dA and get as many writers as we can to enter the group and work to fight for a cure.
What made you decide to start the group?
I decided to start the group because of a teacher at my school. She was diagnosed with stage four cancer and is no longer able to return to the school. She was and always will be a great inspiration to many of my friends and acted as a friend towards them rather than a teacher. I was supposed to have her now for my art class but we only got to meet her for a day before she was forced to leave due to the illness. It was sad, really; I wish I had more time to be in her class before she had to go. My aunt had also fought and won the battle against Breast Cancer, so that was also a big push towards making this group. I just want to make it so no family has to go through was these brave souls had to go through.
Will Write2liveCancerFree be hosting other events or projects throughout the year?
I am unsure at this moment. We have a bit of “Fill ins” (people whose writing was amazing but just not enough to place first or second) that I’m thinking of making into another book to support a different cause, but I’m unsure yet. If we do that, I’ll be having a poll on which major issue in the world we should donate the money to. It’ll be up to the members of the group. Otherwise, we’ll just be having monthly contests and possibly other entry opportunities for different issues. It all depends on what comes to mind or is suggested to me by the wonderful members.
What would make you consider the group, and book, a "success"?
It’ll be a “success” when we start saving lives. Every dollar counts towards making a difference in the world and that’s what this group is about. While we mostly focus on finding a cure for cancer and donating money to that cause (which is what the book at the end of the year of the first and second place winners will be for), we want to make difference in the world. I want this group to help find as many cures to issues that we can; whether it be cancer, polio, or help fund a reconstruction after a hurricane. Of course, what causes we help out will be up to the members, and only the “Fill in” placers will make up the book to help the different causes.
Anything else of note that you would like to share?
I just want to say thank you to everyone taking the time to read this, as well as letting me fill this out and help spread the word. Even if you’re not a writer, we’d greatly appreciate the help with spreading the word. We hope to soon be expanding outside of dA as well, and possibly create a large community of writers to help with this cause. I, myself, will be publishing a few novels on my own that will have all profits go towards the Cancer Research Centers so we can donate the most we can and help find a cure. Thank you again and I hope to see you on the group.

Renewal
It has been a rough few years for myself and my family. It is strange to think that for once in my adult life that I am legitimately doing well, not pretending or being close but not quite there. Things are almost infinitely better than 6 months ago and, if I'm honest, it feels like that was years ago. DA has always been a home and as I've slowly gotten better I find myself missing it and all the friends I've made more and more. I know I do not elaborate much on my personal life, but perhaps now that so much is behind me I can allow myself to discuss it more. In truth, I'm not even sure where to begin, but updating on what happened in the la
Birthdays and Change
I wanted to thank all the lovelies who wished me happy birthday recently, I read all your comments and it made me extremely happy. ♥ It was nice to hop on and see that I was thought of, I truly appreciate it beyond words.
However, I know have been very absent for a few months now. Things have not be going well in my life for the majority of the year (and if I'm honest the last 2 years) now and I have had to put DA on the back burner. I still find myself coming to the site, reading comments/replies, looking at deviations, but currently I am overwhelmed by everything that I can't bring myself to do much else.
I find myself now on the pr
