This article will be posted every fourth Tuesday of the month and will revisit one past group spotlight from Love dA Lit and one literature group who needs admins to help with their various group activities.
Note: I will be on vacation during the last two weeks of August so I will not be posting a League of Lit Groups article for that month. I will resume posting in September.
"A type of Flash Fiction, six word stories are (very) short stories with an exact word count: six words. SixWordStories is the place where, alongside quality, quantity really does matter. Though these stories are so brief in length, they can be as profound, if not more, than the prose and poetry you see and read every day, partly because six word stories can tell us so much and yet contain so little." -3wyl

FocusOnLit is a close-knit group of writers helping each other "stay on track" with their short story or novel. Deviants are grouped into small teams that bring the "classic critique circle" to the group. They have also hosted a variety of workshops and events that continually push members to better their writing.

Since its start over a year ago, how do you think FocusOnLit has changed? Remained the same?
We've changed, because the original concept was strong, but slightly confusing. Once there were more than a handful of teams, we quickly realized that the process we were using wasn't working. So we revamped it a bit and things run a lot smoother now. But we're still teaming up deviants into small critique groups to get feedback.
The group has hosted quite a few workshops since our last interview, which one do you think would be the most beneficial to repeat?
Our motivation workshop. Hands down. All the others are grand, but without motivation, characters don't grow and readers won't become interested.
What is the least glamorous aspect about running FocusOnLit?
You mean the part that's a thorn in my side? That would be the actual team creating. Sometimes it takes awhile for us to get a full team together because we're not a huge group. And sometimes, even once teams are made, things fall through and there's only one member submitting. So we have to shuffle things around a bit so hopefully everyone that's submitting is getting feedback.
In your opinion, what is your absolute favorite thing about the group?
The feedback. I've gotten some of the best feedback from my small group of three other deviants. I value their feedback more than anyone else. We've also heard from some of our members that they've not only gotten feedback on their work because of the group, but have also formed bonds of friendship in their teams.
Anything else of note that you would like to share?
Since we just closed our two month writing marathon, we're taking a bit of a breather, but we'll still be motivating our members to submit regularly to group. And of course to continue giving feedback!

Minotaur 1.1Death's acrid stench clung to the air around Varan. The sickly rot of infection bubbled up, oozing from his shoulder. There was nothing he could do chained to the stone wall with a guard at the door. Arrow splinters trapped in his flesh were killing him slowly.:thumb278315620: :thumb308639442: :thumb288982955:
His death should have been swift on the battlefield, but instead he was ambushed while he bathed. He'd cut down seven men before the poisoned arrow made him too weak to lift his ax. The poison wasn't lethal, unfortunately. Its purpose was to render him unconscious for interrogation.
His sire, the famous Conqueror of Brundan, must be laughing from the afterlife. Even shame failed to give Varan the strength to rise or curse his luck aloud.
Infection ravaged his mind and body. Time blurred and he no longer knew how long he'd been held prisoner. He was a minotaur. A Bullman. He was stronger than any human could hope to become, but the illness made his limbs too heavy to lift rendering the chains moot. He was the Joranaham Chieftain

Checking In
It's been quite a while since my last journal entry, about five years. I hope whoever is reading this knows I've never forgotten anyone and I think of all the friends I made here with such love and joy. I'm not sure how many people still linger on DA, but I hope that if you somehow stumble back to my page you know that I love you and wish you well. There is simply too much to go over for the span of five years, so I'll keep it short and sweet. I love you and I missed you. I don't write quite as much as I used to, but I've started dabbling more often again and was thinking of posting once more. I'm terribly out of practice, but it's something that's always been cathartic so it doesn't matter too much to me how "good" it is. Sometimes you just have to get the feelings out. Anyways, I hope you are having a wonderfully lovely day, my lovelies. How about some questions! What's your current favorite song? A video game you can't stop playing? TV show or movie you wish everyone else would
Renewal
It has been a rough few years for myself and my family. It is strange to think that for once in my adult life that I am legitimately doing well, not pretending or being close but not quite there. Things are almost infinitely better than 6 months ago and, if I'm honest, it feels like that was years ago. DA has always been a home and as I've slowly gotten better I find myself missing it and all the friends I've made more and more. I know I do not elaborate much on my personal life, but perhaps now that so much is behind me I can allow myself to discuss it more. In truth, I'm not even sure where to begin, but updating on what happened in the la
Birthdays and Change
I wanted to thank all the lovelies who wished me happy birthday recently, I read all your comments and it made me extremely happy. ♥ It was nice to hop on and see that I was thought of, I truly appreciate it beyond words.
However, I know have been very absent for a few months now. Things have not be going well in my life for the majority of the year (and if I'm honest the last 2 years) now and I have had to put DA on the back burner. I still find myself coming to the site, reading comments/replies, looking at deviations, but currently I am overwhelmed by everything that I can't bring myself to do much else.
I find myself now on the pr
